Once again, as your recently elected Member of the Board of Directors and as
President of the Glenleigh Homeowners Association, I have an opportunity to
serve all of you who live and work here in Glenleigh. The Glenleigh mission is
simple: Provide a safe place for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness by
helping each other as neighbors, respecting each others privacy, and by taking
care of our properties to preserve their equity.
We do this together in the spirit of cooperation, with open communication,
and thoughtful coordination.
So many of you over the years have helped this neighborhood. You have done
many activities involving our pool and tennis courts, front entrance and common
area, social activities for children and adults, architectural design and
modification reviews, newsletter (and now web sites), and those behind the scene
tasks that lubricate an organization like record keeping, dues collecting,
letter writing, making calls, and checking this and that.
I thank you for your selfless service and ask that you continue to help
Glenleigh where and when you can.
I ask also that those of you who might think that you are not sure how to
help out or don't know what needs to be done, please call one of the individuals
listed on the back page of the newsletter.
No one is more important to the neighborhood than you. We look forward to
hearing from you, believe me!
Since 1987, when I first came to Glenleigh with my wife Michele and (then)
three daughters, Glenleigh has been special.
After three years (1990-1992) with the U. S. Army Europe at Heidelberg,
Germany, I returned to the 'neighborhood' and the one big change immediately
noticeable was that the trees had grown and the neighbors' babies had grown
enough to fill our pool with joyful laughter, and the adults were playing tennis
on several Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association teams. And then the inevitable some
of our neighbors moved to take on new job challenges and new neighbors moved in
to discover that, indeed, Glenleigh is special.
All of us need to take a moment to reflect on this.
So many neighborhoods much larger and more expensive than Glenleigh have not
achieved this sense of community, of belonging, of caring.
Communitas, Caritas -- Latin words for community and caring
respectively ultimate translate to the common good and fellowship. It is the
energy and thought that you bring to this neighborhood that keeps it special.
I will do my best to listen to your concerns, and those of us who serve on
the board, as officers, and as activity coordinators, look forward to
hearing from you and working with you to keep our Glenleigh neighborhood
special.
